Managing TUPE

With 16 years experience in the industry we are well-accustomed to dealing with TUPE legislation. Changing contractor can be an unsettling time for any existing catering staff on site. Our approach is to handle the situation with the minimal fuss and to achieve the maximum benefit for both our clients and the individuals involved.

As soon as we are able to meet the on-site team we discuss future aspirations, development goals and, if necessary, any positions available at other sites within our organisation. Many of our staff who have come to us through TUPE have benefited greatly from joining such a people-focused company.

Some Case Studies

Victoria Christopher – Was a commis chef as part of the TUPE process when we won the contract at Methodist International Centre in 1999. With training and involvement in our Chef Development Programme she is now Senior Sous Chef and responsible for running the kitchen team when the head chef is absent. Victoria was also recently voted the Charlton House Catering Employee of the Year for her outstanding hard work, passion and the dedication she demonstrates in all she does.

Mariola Legierska – Starting with Charlton House as the hospitality assistant at Chivas Brothers, Mariola swiftly made her mark, and through her individual development and determination, has since been promoted to Catering Manager. She was 'runner up' for Unit of the Year at our company conference in 2005 - a fitting testament to all she has brought to Chivas!

These are just a couple of the many cases that we can quote. Through managing the TUPE process well, developing structured training plans, carrying out regular appraisals and communication, we understand the aspirations of our staff and give them the opportunity and ability to reach their goals.
