London Zoo wild about Charlton House - Jan 2007

Charlton House has been awarded a catering contract with the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) to manage its conference and banqueting operations at London Zoo in Regent’s Park. The independent caterers will take over from the incumbents, Leith Catering, on 1st January 2007, whilst public catering is to be managed in-house.

The contract is valued at £1 million in annual turnover to Charlton House, who will cater for high profile hospitality events, conferences, themed functions, parties, weddings and other events, which can include animal encounters, at London Zoo.

 The Zoological Society of London is a registered charity devoted to the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats. It is entirely self-funded so the hospitality and entertainment functions at London Zoo, in particular, generate a significant percentage of the charity’s income.

Tim Jones continued: “London Zoo has a variety of unique spaces suitable for hosting corporate and private events. One particularly exciting aspect for us as caterers is the new Gorilla Kingdom, which is due to open at Easter 2007, where guests will be able to dine within the enclosure and see these spectacular animals close-up.”
