CHARLTON HOUSE GAINS THE LAW SOCIETY

Independent contract caterers, Charlton House, have gained a contract with The Law Society, the representative body for 104,000 solicitors in England and Wales, at the Society’s historic building in Chancery Lane.

Under a five-year contract worth £1.7 million in annual turnover, the independent caterers will take over from the incumbents on 1st April 2007, to manage the entire catering operation, which includes a commercial restaurant, bar and Reading Room, extensive conferencing and banqueting services and a staff refectory for 250 on site.

Tim Jones, co-founder and chairman of Charlton House, said: ”We couldn’t ask for a more prestigious addition to our portfolio. This is a commercial contract, and we believe that our proven performance at other commercial contracts such as the Royal Institute of British Architects – plus our experience of managing many high profile City law firm catering contracts - contributed to The Law Society’s decision to appoint us. Our goal now is to build the business and work closely with our new clients to achieve their objectives.”

Charlton House will be involved in the refurbishment of the restaurant and bar during the summer months, in line with The Law Society’s plans to market the facilities to a wider membership market.

Charlton House currently enjoys an annual turnover of £54 million and employs 1,420 people nationwide. Clients include the National Assembly for Wales and the corporate headquarters of Sony (United Kingdom) Ltd, BUPA and Network Rail.
