READY, STEADY, COOK! - MAY 08 Sixteen teams of chefs from Charlton House staff restaurants throughout the Midlands, the North and Scotland will gather at Manchester University, Hollings Campus on Tuesday 20th May at 2pm for the Charlton House Ready, Steady, Cook Challenge. The chefs will be given a box of mystery ingredients and will have to cook a three-course meal in just 30 minutes in front of a live audience. David Bridge, Charlton House’s executive chef in the north, lives in Wilmslow in Cheshire and is responsible for maintaining the independent staff caterer’s high standards of food throughout the company’s growing client base in the Midlands and north of England, which includes BUPA at Salford Quays and Sun Microsystems Ltd in Sale. He said:” We are staff caterers with impeccably high standards. Our director of food is the Michelin-starred chef, David Cavalier, so we like to challenge and push our chef brigades and let them use their creative skills. The Ready, Steady Cook challenge gives them an opportunity to get together and show off their craft and team skills. “The hospitality industry is dogged by a shortage of skilled chefs and we are constantly on the look-out for good people to join our brigades. We mentor, promote and develop our chefs and the result is a team of really passionate people who love what they do.” Charlton House has 180 staff restaurants nationwide including high profile City law firms and the corporate headquarters of Network Rail, Sony and The RIBA (The Royal Institute of British Architects). In 2006 the company was received a Catey Award for its food and service standards, the hospitality industry’s equivalent to an Oscar. |
