Suppliers, Distribution and Procurement
As an organisation serving 40,000 customers daily, it is our duty and our desire to offer the most consistent service possible. We do this by procuring our food and drink only from nominated farmers and other suppliers.
Because we hand pick like this, we can verify for ourselves their diligence, company ethos and commitment to ethical farming.
We select suppliers with a similar approach to us, including a caring attitude and a desire to work flexibly.
“I believe in partnership trading, where we work very closely with our nominated suppliers. This is because we want to deal with companies to whom Charlton House is important and vice versa.”

Red Tractor Scheme
Charlton House is a member of the Red Tractor Scheme - Britain’s leading kite mark for the food industry. Covering all aspects of the supply chain, it defines standards in food safety, animal welfare and environmental protection.
As an independent organisation, it is managed by Assured Foods and supported by farming bodies, the Government, and the Food and Drink Federation.
Best of British
Charlton House operates a sustainable procurement strategy, meaning that we always buy British food when it’s in season and when it makes environmental and commercial sense to do so. Essentially, we always take care to balance our customers’ needs alongside those of our international suppliers and the environment.
Sustainable Fish
We work hard with our suppliers to ensure that all our fish is sourced ethically and that none of it appears on the Marine Stewardship Council’s (MSC) ‘endangered species’ list.
All our fish suppliers are accredited members of the MSC and keep us abreast of developments in their industry. We have also led the way in sourcing only pole-and-line caught tuna for all our tinned and fresh tuna requirements. This is a sustainable method of fishing that impacts far less on the surrounding marine environment than trawl-fishing, and allows the stock of tuna to be maintained for the future.
Rod & Line caught tuna – doing our bit.
We serve only rod and line caught tuna, throughout all our sites, to help preserve other marine life.
Healthy Eating
The Food Standards Agency says that most of us eat 1 in every 6 meals out of the home. So, the healthy food initiatives we offer at our staff establishments are vital in helping our customers to maintain a healthy, balanced diet.
It goes without saying that Charlton House is highly committed to cooking irresistible food… but that goes hand in hand with making it nutritious.
Our highly trained chefs are trusted with the freedom to style their own menus using products that are as freshly sourced and as ethically produced as possible.
Our food is also created by highly motivated employees who love what they cook and cook it with care – which makes all the difference.
Our chefs are keen to raise awareness of the healthy eating options available including:
