Charlton House’s cycling manager raises over £3000 for industry charity, Springboard

Charlton House is proud of Graham Douglas, its athletic director of operations, who successfully completed The Springboard Team Velo Challenge and has raised over £3,000, so far, for the industry charity.

Graham teamed up with Matt Symonds, operations director at Lusso, Charlton House’s sister company, and Matt Simon, chef manager for Lusso at Peel Hunt, and over three physically demanding but exhilarating days, covered 225miles of changing and challenging British and French terrain and conditions, in under 20 hours, as they cycled from London to Paris.

The adventure-hungry team, whose spirits couldn’t even be dampened by Great British traffic and weather, relished every mile of the challenge, describing the experience and event as ‘amazing’.

After a slow exit from London and a downpour around the Guildford area that soaked them to the bone, their journey is only one of highlights, including: great camaraderie with the rest of Team Velo participants; exceptional food and drink en route, such as barbecued garlic snails and refreshing beer; and the jubilant feeling that came with crossing the finish line in Paris as a team.

As well as the kudos of completing the challenge, the trio also cycled away with the ‘Most Entertaining Team’ Award, an honour bestowed upon them for stopping for a beer along the route and maximising their experience, rather than simply getting to the finish as quickly as possible!

All enthusiastic cyclists, Matt, Graham and Matt are keen to convey what a fun and well-supported event the Springboard Team Velo Challenge is and thank everyone for their donations.  They’re looking to repeat the experience next year and recruit more members to the team!

The fantastic effort of the team can still be supported with sponsorship and donations at
